Opt or Drop: Reviewing Euromega-3 Fish Oil Supplement

It’s opt or drop time. Today, we’re discussing a unique fish oil supplement called Euromega-3. 

Why is fish oil such a big topic in autism? 

Fish oil provides omega-3 fatty acids, such as EPA and DHA. Those are the building blocks for the brain and nervous system. Research shows that many kids with autism have lower omega-3 levels. So supporting these nutrients may help with learning and mood, and overall brain health. If your child’s a picky eater, they’re probably not getting enough omega-3s. So again, that’s why this topic is really important and popular in autism.

Why Euromega-3 Stands Out from Regular Fish Oil

Now, Most people know fish oil either as those giant soft gels, we all know those, or as this liquid oil. Both can be tough to take, especially for kids or for anyone with swallowing or texture challenges. That’s where  Euromega-3 is different. Instead of being an oil, it comes in these blister packs, and it’s a tablet form. Let me pop one out. This is the tablet. You can see right there. Each serving contains an omega-3 phospholipid peptide complex that is extracted from salmon. This product is interesting in that omega-3s are naturally bound to the phospholipids, which really may help with absorption.

Natural Extraction and DHA:EPA Ratio Explained

The company emphasises that they’re never chemically altering these fats, and they’re extracted using just water and enzymes. Here in this product, the ratio of DHA to EPA is about 2 to 1. Now, you definitely want to understand what the ratios are for what omega-3 you’re taking. The ratios and the different oils do different things. DHA is especially important for brain health. When your DHA is in a higher ratio to EPA, then the focus is more going to be on brain health. Whereas if your EPA is higher than your DHA, then there’s going to be more of a focus on systemic and general inflammation. Just make sure you know which one you want and why?. 

All fish Oils do the same thing. This one happens to have a ratio of DHA to EPA, 2 to 1. There’ll be slightly more brain focus if you’re taking this. 

Easy to Swallow for Kids and Adults

So, Euromega-3 is recommended for people over six years old. And because the tablets are small, they’re easier to swallow. If that’s still a challenge, you can crush them up and sprinkle it into food. 

Personal Experience with Euromega-3

So omega-3s and fish oil, that’s something I take consistently throughout the year most times. I know what my body feels like when I’m not taking those, especially during the winter. I can feel a difference just in my body, but then also in my mind and my thoughts. So I definitely understand pill fatigue and not wanting to swallow these huge fish oil pills. 

Comparing Euromega-3 with Regular Fish Oil Pills

So traditional fish oil pill, the one benefit to these being so big is I take this with my calcium. My calcium is huge, too. But somehow, the combination of them together it just makes it a little bit easier. I don’t know why. 

So the Euromega-3 definitely is easier to swallow, and I could verify that for sure.

Tips for Kids Who Struggle to Swallow Pills

If your child is not swallowing pills, you could crush this up, and I would sprinkle it into food. I would definitely not sprinkle it into a drink.

There’s no smell; they’re in blister packs, so it’s not like when you open the bottle, you get a big whiff of anything. 

Taste and Texture Experience

I can tell you, sometimes I have trouble swallowing pills. It’s just like a mental block. I’ll put it in my mouth, and then I’ll be like, Oh my gosh, what if I choke? What if I choke? What if I choke? And then the pill is sitting in my mouth for a while, right? Like, not a good thing. So when I do that with this, which is not every time, but when I do that with this, I can taste like salmon. It’s like I’m eating salmon, and that’s what this is, basically.

So it definitely tastes like salmon. if you are going to crush it up, you can do that, but put it in food because you’re not going to want to drink that. I don’t even want to try that to see what that tastes like. It’s probably not going to be good. 

Dosage Trade-Off and Absorption

So the main trade-off is dosage. Compared to other formulations, this has a moderate amount of omega-3s. It’s not as high as something in a fish oil pill that is twice the amount of fish oils as the Euro omega. But there’s a trade-off. This one’s much easier to take. For people who really can’t take those big pills or that liquid, I’ve tried fish oil liquid, and I don’t know, just the way it coats my mouth is just like, I’d rather just swallow pills and not taste that.

Final Verdict – Opt or Drop?

It’s good to have options, even though you’re sacrificing a little bit of strength by having a smaller pill, which makes sense, right? Euromega-3 is a great option for those who need fish oil but just can’t handle those big pills or the liquid.

Tablets are small, and you can crush them up and sprinkle them in food. They do taste a little fishy, but they’re much easier to swallow than the standard fish oil capsules. Just keep in mind the trade-off. Fish oils, they’re big pills. They’re not realistic for every child or even adult. But sometimes in life, it’s not all or nothing. So it’s really nice to have a middle ground option. So on my full script, it is $45 for a month’s supply. Now, that’s definitely more than the cost of big fish oil pills that I take. But if your child needs to take fish oil and they won’t touch the liquid or these larger capsules, then it’s absolutely worth it because you have options, and life isn’t all or nothing. So many times, it’s like my child’s either able to take fish oil or they’re not because of that whole limiting of how they’re packaged. But with this, with the tablet that you can crush up, it really opens up a lot more possibilities so that maybe you could get your child to have half a tablet or a full tablet without them even noticing.

It is really good to have options, and for that reason, I’m giving Euromega-3 a big opt. It’s definitely something to have in mind if fish oil is something your child needs, and the other formulations are difficult. This is a very unique formulation.
